India Takes Center Stage at Asia Steel Trade Summit 2025
At the prestigious Asia Steel Trade Summit (ASTS) in Shanghai, held on 21–22 April 2025, Mr. Nikunj Turakhia, President of the Steel Users Federation of India (SUFI), delivered a powerful address advocating India’s rise as a global steel powerhouse. Accompanied by Mr. Vinod Bane, Secretary of SUFI, the delegation represented India’s steel user community at one of the industry’s most influential global platforms.

Speaking before leading voices from China, the Middle East, Turkey, Europe, and Southeast Asia, Mr. Turakhia emphasized India’s robust economic fundamentals, policy-driven reforms, and the steel sector’s pivotal role in achieving the $5 trillion economy milestone.

He highlighted transformative national initiatives like Make in India, the PLI scheme for specialty steel, and the development of circular steel ecosystems aimed at green growth. In a landmark announcement, he also introduced the SUFI International Chambers—a strategic initiative to support international companies in sourcing steel from India and expanding their footprint in the Indian market.

With strong representation and a bold vision, SUFI reaffirmed India’s growing influence in global steel trade. India is not just scaling up production—it is redefining the future of global steel.
